Pooled Human Serum (PHS)

Pooled Human Serum (PHS)

Pooled Human Serum (PHS) is collected from AB blood type, non-transfused fasting male donors. The PHS contains no anticoagulants and is heat-inactivated to eliminate complement activity. (non-heat-inactivated available upon request) Bulk quantities are available.

Pooled Human Serum available from Labquip Supply & Services Ltd. is collected at FDA-licensed commercial donor centers within the USA. Each unit is tested and confirmed negative for: HBsAg, HCV, HIV-1, HIV-2, HIV-1Ag or HIV 1-NAT, ALT, and syphilis using FDA-approved methods.

Each lot of Pooled Human Serum (PHS) is aseptically pooled and sterile-filtered.

RECOMMENDED USAGE:

In cell culture, as a protein supplement, the recommended concentration of Pooled Human Serum for supporting cell growth ranges from 10-15% for each lot. This should serve as a guideline, and we recommend that each laboratory further evaluate the Pooled Human Serum to determine the optimal concentration for their specific cellular assays.

Pooled Human Serum is also used as a negative control in ELISA and serological HLA Typing. It can be used as a diluent or negative control in microlymphocytotoxicity and flow cytometric assays. PHS supports Mixed Lymphocyte Culture (MLC) and Mitogen (PHA) responses.

Quality assurance includes testing for sterility, pH, osmolarity, presence or absence of Mycoplasma, endotoxin, and presence of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA Ag) by Complement Dependent Cellular Cytotoxicity (CDCC) and flow cytometry.

For Use As A Cell Culture Protein Supplement Or As A Negative Control Reagent

Negative control serum is a pool of sera collected aseptically from whole blood. The blood is drawn from non-transfused male donors with ABO type AB. This material was tested and found to be non-reactive for hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg), Anti-HIV, and Hepatitis C.
